It looks like one of the stars of the hit Netflix series Narcos will be joining the cast of Wolverine 3. Boyd Holbrook will be entering the cinematic world of Fox-Marvel as the villain, Donald Pierce.
If you don’t know who Donald Pierce is, he’s a powerful cyborg that has a close connection to the Hellfire Club. In X-Men: First Class, we were introduced to the Hellfire Club via Sebastian Shaw, played by Kevin Bacon. We all know how that went at that time with the X-Men, so this will be an interesting turn of events for Wolverine since he didn’t encounter them in that movie. Although in the comic books, Wolverine and the X-Men did encounter them many times.
It’s known that Wolverine 3 is based on the comic book series Old Man Logan, where Wolverine is already an old man and he goes through his trials and tribulations with other mutants and super-powered beings. It will be an R-rated movie, following the success of Fox-Marvel’s recent movie, Deadpool. To get a sense of how raw and grounded this movie is, director James Mangold recently tweeted this from the script.
“Basically, if you’re on the make for a hyper-choreographed, gravity defying, city-block destroying CG f–kathon, this ain’t your movie,” the script reads. “In this flick, people get hurt or killed when shit falls on them. They will get just as hurt or just as killed if they get hit with something big and heavy, like, say, a car. Should anyone in our story have the misfortune to fall off a roof or out a window, they won’t bounce. They will die.”
This will be the final film that Hugh Jackman dons the garb and claws of our favorite berserker mutant, Wolverine. Wolverine 3 will be released in theaters on March 3rd, 2017.
